Today I have collected a good amount of words and surely they will come to use in your daily conversation.

Deride to laugh at someone or something in a way that shows you think they are stupid or of no use

Derogatory: conveying a poor opinion of something or someone



Example sentence:
The restaurant’s derogatory name caused people to avoid eating there.

Fete: a public event, often held outside; honor or entertain (someone) lavishly


Example sentence:

Despite the bad weather the fete will go ahead.

We come across some typical vocabulary while reading any article, editorial or any kind of news edition. I am here to present you some good set of words along with their figurative explanations. 

Here are the new set of words extracted from The Hindu daily news paper.

Read and Memorize and Apply them to your daily conversation.



Turmoil: a state of confusion or disorder or uncertainty


Example sentence: 
As soon as the gun-carrying man entered the restaurant, turmoil broke out as customers screamed and dived for the floor.

Daily English Vocabulary - 1

I am here to share some knowledge regarding daily usage vocabulary.
Believe me, It's going to help you out a lot!

Here, I am going to list out few words from The Hindu daily news paper and their usage in the sentences corresponding to the situation.


Beckon: make a gesture with a hand, arm or head to call someone over to you.
This is how the gesture looks!
Example sentences:
As we walked through the flea market, the vendors would beckon us into their shops.
Sleep tends to beckon to those who avoid it for several days.

Alimonypayment paid to one’s former spouse to support their living


That poor kid! :(

Example sentences:
Without alimony payments, there is no way the newly divorced woman will be able to continue living in her expensive home.


Transgressionthe violation of a duty, law, or moral principle

No...No...No........

Example sentences:
The judge will decide the penalty for my transgression.
Mark went to confession to apologize for his transgression.

Infiltrationto secretly penetrate, enter or gain access

Note: "bode well" can be used for something that is going to help you in the future

Example sentence: 
The president responded to the journalist’s question with a clever quip.

Example sentence: 
During the busy holiday season, most of the stores seem to be in a constant state of mayhem.
The playground was filled with mayhem as fifty students jumped and climbed all over the equipment.

Conundrum a difficult problem that seems to have no solution (eg: riddles, puzzles)

Example sentence:
Trying to solve this conundrum is really making my head hurt.
Although the mechanic tried to identify the conundrum with the car, he was unable to pinpoint the issue.

Perspiration: process of sweating

Hey! Relax for a while... 

Example sentence: 
Before showering, I like to work out for about ten minutes, until I feel the perspiration on my face.
Bob uses as much antiperspirant deodorant that he can, because he hates the feeling of perspiration trickling from his armpits.

Whimsicalin an amusing or playful manner

Example sentence:
As soon as my husband uncovered his favorite childhood toys, he smiled and began to recall his whimsical days of youth.
The whimsical music made me feel like a little kid again.

Earshot: the range or distance over which one can hear or be heard.

Example sentence:
The two men found a bench on the edge of the field, out of earshot of the hundreds of campers.

Tabloida newspaper having pages half the size of those of the average broadsheet, typically popular in style and dominated by sensational stories.

Mopclean or soak up liquid from (something) by wiping.

(Seems like the maid took a day off...) Help yourself young lady!

Example sentence: 
There was a woman mopping the stairs.
George came back mopping his face with a towel.

Infuse: fill it with something; soak (tea, herbs, etc.) in liquid to extract the flavour or healing properties.

In between stuff = Be careful before you infuse anything into it!!

Example sentence:
Cook the rice until you thoroughly infuse it with the taste of the herbs and spices you added.
The speaker’s enthusiasm was meant to infuse the crowd with excitement.

Ponderto think about something seriously

While sitting in rush hour traffic, James had plenty of time to ponder the miserable state of his marriage.
With the budget deadline just around the corner, Congress does not have time to ponder petty issues.

Bash: Strike hard or violently; a heavy blow; A social event(eg: Birthday party)

Ruminatethink deeply about something; to chew repeatedly for an extended period


Example sentence:
Although I knew I cared deeply for Henry, I still had to ruminate on his marriage proposal for a while.

Empowergive (someone) the authority or power to do something.
Note: We frequently hear the word "Women empowerment" now-a-days. It means "All they need is a chance to show their power in the society"

Example sentence:
A good manager never fails to empower his employees with the ability to meet the needs of the customer.
My father believes having a gun at home will empower him to protect his family.

Savourto take delight in something for a long period of time

Mmmmm....Yummyyy...

Example sentence:
The team will savor the championship victory for years to come.
Since it’s my last cookie, I will eat it slowly and savor the taste.
